Sanremo

After our relaxing days in Les Houches following the completion of TMB, we decided to continue our trip along the coast line on the way home.

First stop is Sanremo, on the Italian Riviera. We arranged a small attic flat, very comfortable and with a nice view from Airbnb for 3 days.

Our host in Sanremo suggested us to visit a small ancient village, Bussana, on the hills of Sanremo. It was destroyed by an earthquake in 1887 and the surviving inhabitants left the village. It remained as ghost town until early 1960’s. Then a group of artists decided to move to this village to be able to live simply and to work artistically. They renovated the houses and streets and in time this place developed as a touristic village where artists live and exhibit and sell their handiwork and organize artistic events. Interesting place.

In the enterance of the same village we came across an exhibition and sales place of bonsai art. A good collection of miniature trees of many species. Amazing...

We finished the day with a seafood meal at a restaurant by the coast and with coffee at another place at the harbour.

Another day we made a day trip to Nice. We drove there then took the tram to go to downtown which was very convenient.
