At Makarska there is the sea on one side and the
mountains of Biokovo National Park on the other side of a narrow strip of land.
Just a block off main street on the mountain side you start to climb.
Today it's time to go up the mountain! It does not look like there could be any trails
up the face but there are. We walked through town about 3 km
to where the trails start – maybe 2 blocks off main street.
The next 3.5 km we climbed to 1000 meters. We started
late so we didn’t have time to reach the top of Vosac Peak which is 1422 meters. It was just getting dark when we arrived back to town –
perfect time to be down.
The trail was very well marked and a good trail – just
a lot of climbing. There were many places where there are great views of the
town and harbor. There a few very old buildings you see which have been
abandoned but most are newer and well kept.
We saw one old church at the village of Makar where we
took pictures and some scenic shots looking out over the town and bay.
