We were planning on starting out at 08:00
hours this morning – 480 km to go. However Microsoft decided to do an update on
Ferda’s laptop that took until 10:00 hours to complete so 2 hours gone. (Can’t
stop in the middle or else you are in deep …)
Once we got started and across the
Durmitor massif leaving Zabljak, Montenegro we thought we had it made to good
road but Russ’s navigator sent us the wrong way over a narrow and horrible
road - that lasted the better part of an hour out and back.
On the way to the Bosnia border from there the road in Montenegro is quite
good but once in to Bosnia it goes to hell. A very rough narrow single lane
paved and rough rock for the second lane - another 20 km in an hour with single
lane wooden bridges. Had a great time trying to pass the clown in front of us
that was crawling along!
Like we said on FB – 6 hours to cover 130 km – no speed records there!
We did eventually find a freeway type road - 48 km from Sarajevo to Zenica. (and paid 5 euros for 52 km!) The rest of the way was good two lane if a little crooked.

Hair pin turns made in a tunnels - We had never seen that before. The
tunnels on the back roads were rough stone inside - no concrete but there were
stone piles along the side where material had fallen from the roof. And they
were continuous (like 20 or something) eventually we arrived the main road.
The last 5 km to where we were staying
was once again crawl along speed – too much fun.
We saw people cutting grass hay with a scythe or a walk behind mower. We
saw people making rows of the cut hay by hand with forks and piling it in to
the cute stacks – a lot of work! I expect they would be happy to earn 15$ per
day (just like 50 lira in our country) – forget 15$ per hour.
